Cats Maw Book 2This book has cats, what more does it need? Okay, so maybe a good story. Guess what it has that too.

The Cat’s Maw Book One of The Shadowland Saga

by Brooke Burgess

This is the story of Billy Brahm and the strange and terrible things that happen to him. Billy is a 10 year old boy that seems to be cursed, nothing goes right for him ever. Except maybe (and this is a big maybe) when he meets a certain white and black tabby cat. In fact this meeting only seems to make things worse. Or does it?

Here is the book description:

A BOY. A CAT. A NIGHTMARE LOOSED IN TWO WORLDS!

In the sleepy town of Appleton, a young loner follows a stray cat onto the road and is struck by a car. A leg is shattered, a summer is ruined, and the troubled life of Billy Brahm goes from bad…to cursed.

When the mysterious cat appears at his bedside, Billy is haunted by strange and prophetic dreams — the creatures in them speak of Watchers, and Shadows, and the Enemy that Awakens.

Does this impossible realm hold the key to healing the broken boy? Is the golden-eyed cat there to help him, or to make the nightmares come true?

Too frightened to share the truth with his strict adoptive parents, Billy realizes that the only ones he can turn to are the local vet’s daughter, the town’s ‘crazy cat lady’…

…and a mystical tiger, beckoning from his dreams.

This book is geared toward the YA crowd but that doesn’t mean adults won’t enjoy it.

The only thing we did not care for too much were the dream sequences. Billy’s dreams (or are they glimpses into an alternate reality) are a little on the strange side (making them a little hard to follow and a little hard for H2 to get thru), but aren’t dreams usually weird any way? I think some of the questions raised by this book will be answered in book two or others in the series to come.

We gived it a four paws up (4 out of 5 stars). Get ur paws on a copy.

We quite liked it (even with the slight issue of not quite following the dreams…we think that has more to do with H2’s dyslexia than the story itself) and we fink it would be a pawsum pick fur #ReadPawty.

Disclaimer: I was given a copy of this book to given my honest opinion in dis here review and dat iz wot u gots!
