2012 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship

The 12th edition of the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship, featuring the country’s premier dogs vying for the biggest dog show prize in the world and special features like a ceremony honoring hero dogs, will air on ABC on Saturday, February 2nd at 2 pm EST (check local listings).

AKC’s Gina DiNardo and ESPN anchor Todd Grisham will share commentary duties during the broadcast of the National Championship. With DiNardo’s life-long involvement in the sport of purebred dogs and Grisham’s humor and enthusiasm, it will make for a fun as well as educational broadcast for all dog lovers.

“The AKC/Eukanuba National Championship offers the public the opportunity to learn more about each of AKC’s 175 breeds and how the predictability of purebred dogs can make it easy to match a particular breed to fit your lifestyle,” DiNardo said. “Viewers will be able to see each Best of Breed winner compete in the group ring, watch highlights from our Breeder of the Year and AKC Humane Fund Awards for Canine Excellence presentations, and much, much more. We hope you enjoy the show!”

Two new AKC-recognized breeds will make their AKC/Eukanuba National Championship debut during the broadcast – the Russell Terrier and the Treeing Walker Coonhound. Watch them compete during the broadcast and learn more about their history and function at www.akc.org.

During the broadcast, AKC will host a Virtual Viewing Party at 2 pm EST with behind-the-scenes tidbits on Facebook and a Tweet Chat on Twitter using the hashtag #celebratedogs. Fans can stop by to root for their favorites, chat with other dog show enthusiasts or post a photo of their dog enjoying the broadcast.

Paw It Forward CardWe gotted a late Xmas card from our pals ovah at Citizen Paine (a PR company I fink we werked wif at some point during da year). But it wuzn’t just a card it had a neat origami bird inside da card. And dat bird wuz a folded up $10 bill.

Da note inside the card asked dat we paw it forward. My first thought wuz I will just gib it to One By One (which of course we were intending to do next time we went ovah to an adoption day), but da universe had anutter plan fur us. We had da money in our wallet carryin all ovah da place (surprised H2 did not go and spend it by accident).

Den we gotted an email from The Buddy Rescue about Ellie Mae dat sweet looking hound doggy wot needed to hab surgery on both her ears. So we qwikly clicked ovah to der chip in and made sure dey got dat moneys. She still needs halp wif her vet bills (see my post about herz and please donate iffen you can). The folks at da Buddy Rescue r really nice people and do so much good fur da puppies wot need savin. I knows dey will be beary appreciative of any moneys dey gets. (dunt worry ma pals at One By One will still gets a donashuns frum us too….sides SCIFIpawty iz all fur dem)

peanutOMC remember dat sweet lil Peanut ma pal rescued afore Christmas? Well herz gotted a beary lubbin furever home and her new human haz sended me an update on hers.

Peanut is doing great.  A little over 3 months old now and getting big.  She loves her sisters and playing and sleeping in the bathroom sink!  LOL  Our 14 year old has been playing lately, she has brought lots of energy and love to our home.

I am so beary happy dat herz not only gotted a forever home but sounds likes hers gotted a GREAT forever home. Look at des utter pikshurs of her fitting right in and gettin big and being lubbed.

I great BIG fank u goes out to da folks at One By One for taking Peanut in and posting her story on facebook so her new human could find her & adopts her so quickly. Peanuts story wuz a true Christmas miracle.

scifipawty-square-2013-03-23WOW! Can you believe we have been having out of this world fun all in the name of charity for four years now? 2013 marks our 4th anniversary of SCIFIPAWTY! How Pawsum iz dat?

Just like last year I am extending a paw to ma foster monster sisfurs by dedicating dis years event to Tippy and Drizzle. Both of these precious kittehs lost their battle t FIP only a year ago and we miss them something awful. Dis past year we did adopt Phoebe & Piper, also from One By One Cat Rescue and boy are dey crazy.

What is SCIFIpawty? Quite simply, SCIFIpawty is the first and only virtual science fiction convention & party hosted by animals for animals on Twitter.com. There are DJs spinning our favorite tunes, bartenders offering up out of this world food & drinks (virtually of course), security (red shirts) to keep the spammers and scammers away, a costume contest, and quizmasters tasking us with fast paced, fun trivia with a chance to win door prizes. All this is achieved through the help of many wonderful volunteers and sponsors.

This event is used to raise awareness of animals in shelters, the need for adoption/rescue as well as raising much needed funds. Last year our event was able to raise over $1515 for the One By One Cat Rescue (This year let’s shoot for $2000). In the past 3 years we have raised over $4300 for animal rescues. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH.

The 2013 4th Annual SCIFpawty proceeds will once again benefit One By One Cat Rescue in Kutztown, PA a no-kill, non-profit organization.

Past year’s prize sponsors included: Jane Wiedlin (the Go-Gos, Star Trek), ThinkGeek.com, Perpetual Kid, Ourpets, Nylabone, Bissell, DogToys.com, CatToys.com, ScifiSlacker.com, TokiPoki.com and many other great companies, sites & individuals.  This years prizes are gearing up to be just as great!!!

We would love to have you join us for our event. The 2013 4rd Annual SCIFIpawty will take place on March 23rd from 11am EST to 11pm EST. Just sign into Twitter during the event, search for SCIFIpawty to see what is happening and join the fun. All we ask is that you keep it PG & use the hashtag #SCIFIpawty in your posts so you’ll show up in the pawty streams.

Once again we will hab a costume contest, trivia questions (with prizes) and door prizes. However, this year we will be adding a charity auction, pawtograph room (auctioned autographs) and celebrity panels (more info about each of these will be coming shortly).
